Pokemon Website

Im thinking of starting to work back on the website, since ive been busy working on other projects, although im not married to any of them yet. Ive always been amazed at the idea and mechanics of a social network. Building social networks is all about grabbing the attention of the user and creating a socially addicting environment. When i complete the content of the website on ThePokemonProfessor.com, Im going to fully integrate a social network into it. A place where you can request friends, ask to battle (same mechanics), find breeders, set your professions(!)[meaning that you can set 'breeder' as a profession and easily be searched by that. but when you choose breeder, you have to pick the categories that your breds are in for insite SEO] etc etc. all that fun stuff.

When it comes to privacy & filter issues, you can set it up so you can only be requested by users who already have a Battle ID.

I've always been fond of using PHP to set cookies but recently, the more i think of it, the more user interactive i can be if i use Javascript to set my cookies since i can say that if a log in cookie is set, fade out a button, or make a button inactive. using PHP i can really only choose between showing the button and not showing the button.

I have yet to see smogon, bulbapedia, marriland or serebii integrate anything social into their website. This will give me a leg up on the competition. ill write more later

Facebook SDK

WOW, the facebook development kit is like a completely different language. Its so hard to understand. Ive been trying to make a basic facebook framework but to no avail. To get peoples pictures is like 3 lines of code, to add a like button is a lot more and its all so complex. in order to get peoples friends.. dont even get me started.

what i wanted to do was make a way where i can easily extract someone profile picture. The way facebook API works is that everyone has their own facebook id. its like a 7-9 digit number, sometimes longer so what i want to do is make a php class that can be done like this:

class->getFriends("192817265");
or
class->getFriends("me");
or
class->showPicture("me");

i want it to be that simple but everytime i try, something goes wrong and im about to retry right now. i have to get ready for work in an hour and a half so lets see how this works out

thoughts on 6/8/12

A little background story: So Jamie and I went to the movies this past sunday and i finally kissed her! after all these months, finally i created something. The next day my ex asked me if i could drive her home so i said maybe, she said ok ill take that maybe as a yes and since i didnt have a reason to say no besides i dont want to, i ended up driving her home. When we got to her house, she leaned in for a hug, so i hugged her back and then as we let go, she pecked me. To not make it awkward i just said goodbye and she left and went inside. I drove home and continued on with my life

The next day on a tuesday, toni told seline, and seline told jamie. Now lets take this time out and explain this. When it comes to ruining my life, Toni is anything but short of ideas to stop me from talking to girls. Toni knows she cant talk directly to Jamie so she chooses the next best thing, Seline. Toni knows that Seline doesnt really know when to be quiet, whats a secret and whats not, and shes best friends with Jamie. All of this adds up to one common denominator: Seline is the perfect messenger. Toni is talking to Seline because Toni knows that whatever she tells Seline, she will run and tell Jamie.

Back to the story: So on Tuesday, Jamie texts me and says how i kissed toni the day after i kissed jamie, which is true and i completley understand why Jamie is mad, but at the same time i dont. Because Jamie has been saying all this time that she just wants to be friends she just wants to be friends but whenever i act single, she wants more but thats just her nature. Between the stories she tells me and between what i can gather just from personal experience, Jamie lives by the all american girl motto: she wants what she cant have. But when it comes to this, i just cant find that common denominator. I act like i dont want her so she will want me, and when i finally think i have her, i turn around and start acting like i want her and then she doesnt want me back and im not planning on pretending i dont want her forever.

So now me and jamie kind of got into ... not a fight but it want a one sided exchange of my emotions. I told her things i didnt want to tell her in a million years but with me joining the military and all, hey, this could be the last 5 months that i ever get to see her so nothing is stopping me from telling her how i feel even if she doesnt feel the same way. Which she doesnt. So right now, either way the wind blows doesnt really matter to me. Sometimes i wonder if she doesnt like me only because im going away. Kind of like a non-conscious mechanism to avoid getting hurt, which doesnt phase me all that much since i want to be the last person that hurts her. After all this exchanging, we now stand at just friends, which is all weve been since just before that Black Sunday which now stands as the Worst Victory ive ever had.

Moral of the story: I built up all of this. All the nights talking to her, all the nights sharing how we feel, all the i love you's and the fun times on the phone or in person, just, everything was too good to be true, and it was too good to be true. I had it so well that i could almost hold what we had in the palm of my hand but now as i stop to think about it, how much really was there? Nothing? When your trying to grasp a hold on some thing thats not existent, when do you know that you really have it? I thought i had this all built up but the love that was there was only a figment of my imagination. A thought that i developed that i knew would give me hope for a better future but in reality, it was nothing more then a thought, nothing more then my imagination running away with me.

Facebook and the School Systems

The thing with school systems now is that students are so restricted to the people they have to share an education with. It seems like as technology grows bigger and more advanced, the friendship with the people we already know grows stronger. It should be more then that. The relationships you know with people that you dont know should grow more as well. The more people you talk to, the more the brain thinks, and the more creation will occur. Great thoughts happen the more you socialize.

How it works:

You sign-up on the site with your facebook account, Ensure that your graduation year and your school is correct, and click signup. on the actual site, you can choose which school district you want to see peoples facebook's. A list will be shown where you can scroll through peoples facebooks who are in that school and click the request button as you scroll and see people who you find attractive or interesting.

For advertisement for the site, advertising can stay at a minimum since the only thing i need is to create a way that the site can be liked and it automatically shows up on their wall, which then other people can click and visit the site.

Signing up is extremely easy, i can make the API automatically fill in the signup form. In reality, the site itself is going to be pretty basic, not many pages that i need to create at all and the site basically works itself. Now monetizing the site is going to be pretty tough, if even possible, unless i wanted to make ads on the site which is kind of a big no no for me. The site will still be worth money because it will have a (hopefully) large database of users.

Sachem CRT

this blog is mainly to get things out of my head and into the cloud which we call the internet. If anybody except myself actually knows that i am a web developer (something i keep to myself for fear of people knowing) You will know that the biggest things i strive for is Simplicity, User Friendly,  and most importantly: CENTRALIZATION. This is the most important thing that i strive for in a website. I want everything that you need to be in one place and with my new [almost] complete sachemCRT.com website, i am making that goal possible. There are a few things as a CRT that you need when taking care of someone elses computer. You need:

1) information on how to actually fix it.
2) tools to fix the problem
3) communication with the customer

explanations:
1) information on fixing the problem - On the site, i am implementing an articles database where i will write articles explaining how i fixed problems and even students can write articles on how to fix a problem. If a problem cant be found on Google then the CRT's can refer to the database to find a problem that possibly another CRT found. The longer the site is around and the more CRT's use the site then the larger the database will grow. Hopefully after a few years, the site will have a large enough database to be self sustainable. The teacher can assign us projects to write an article.

2) tools to fix the problem: The site has a built in software center where i put up programs that help us monitor, debug and get rid of problems like anti virus, anti spyware and programs to speed up the computer.

3) communication with customers is crucial. As a matter of fact, I recently signed up for a software service that allows me to turn eligible wireless routers into a hotspot to make some extra money; they emailed me and said that his name was marko and he will be my account manager and if i needed any help or had any questions, i just had to email him. <<-- this is a fricken amazing idea. If there were sayy 3 CRT's assigned a certain part of the alphabet, they would get 9 letters each. whenever a person with the last name of the letter they are assigned to signs up, that person will email them saying that they are the account managing CRT of their account and if they need help with anything, they can email them. This is the equivalent of a real world situation of EXTREME customer service. A workplace that places the customer and a good experience over the monetary value of what the customer is and since the customer here at Sachem has 0 monetary value, then customer service should be at an all time high and this is what it should be like.
